After struggling with a calf complaint earlier this season, Vice-Captain Simon Black is certainly making up for lost time following another standout display against Fremantle.

Since missing the team’s Round 4 win against the Western Bulldogs, Black has been among the team’s best few players in the Lions’ past three matches - albeit losses - against Melbourne, Sydney and Fremantle.

He saved his finest performance for the season for the Dockers last Saturday night when he collected a season-high 36 disposals, laid a team-high eight tackles and booted two goals in the narrow home loss.

He accumulated a team-high 137 Dream Team points - close to 50 points more than second ranked Lion Ash McGrath (88 points).

Black’s impressive form over the past month has seen him rise to 8th in the Club’s overall Dream Team point leaderboard with a total of 511 points.

The yo-yoing leaderboard sees Michael Rischitelli (679) reclaim outright first position from Jonathan Brown (646) while Brendan Fevola has moved back into the top five for the first time since Round 1.

Serious injuries to regular Dream Team performers Jared Brennan and Josh Drummond will see them slide out of contention as the season progresses.

Dream Team coaches will be pleased to welcome back Matt Maguire this week who copped a one-match ban from the AFL Tribunal last week. Maguire is this year’s second most popular selection from the Lions behind skipper Brown.

Meanwhile, Sam Bishop still leads the Lions Dream Team competition from rapid improver Ullandah Stanley while Ling’s Bandits (coached by Damien Parker) became the first team in the Lions League this season to score the highest weekly total for the second time.

Jed Adcock’s team ’Jed’s Juggernaut’ has recovered from a disappointing Round 6 score to move up 24 places and back into the top 200.

Registered Dream Teamers must remember to check their teams prior to the Round 8 lockout at 7:30pm this Friday night.
