Midfielder-turned-defender Ryan Harwood answered questions from fans during a 30-minute live online chat at 3pm (AEST) on Wednesday 4 July 2012.

Please find below an edited transcript from what was said during the Q&A session.

Ryan Harwood: Hey guys, Ryan here ready for your questions!

Jessie: What is your favourite band?

Ryan Harwood: Hey Jessie, I'm not really into music... maybe something like SUM41?

Georgia: Hey Ryan, how are you? Was the water a bit chilly down at Southbank on Monday? It looked a bit cold from where I was standing! I was watching you boys

Ryan Harwood: Hi Georgia, yeah it's the worst part of the week! Not a real fan of the water.

Barry: Hi Ryan, good luck for the weekend mate - let’s make it three-in-a-row

Ryan Harwood: Thanks Barry

Jason: Great last few games Ryan! Do you still see yourself eventually being a midfielder? And how many off-seasons of training do you think you need to reach AFL level fitness?

Ryan Harwood: Hey Jason, I'll probably play around back for the next few years and hopefully I will become a midfielder towards the end of my career. As for the off-season, probably another one under my belt will give me the basis to keep going.

James: Hey Ryan, what is your favourite ground to play at apart from the GABBA?

Ryan Harwood: Hey James, I’d say maybe Aurora Stadium - it’s always good to play at home!

Damion23: Hi Ryan, who from Tassie's U18s do you think is a chance to get drafted this year?

Ryan Harwood: Hey Damion, not really sure who is playing at the moment. Sorry mate.

Mia: What do you do the night before a game to prepare?

Ryan Harwood: Hey Mia, usually I have Noodle Box and just chill out on the couch!

James: Rhino, I noticed that you were named in the afl.com.au’s Round 14 team of the week. Is this your greatest individual accolade to date?

Ryan Harwood: Hey James, yeah it would be I reckon. Pretty happy with that achievement.

Emily: Hey Ryan. How many tattoos are you up to now??? It seems like a hundred!

Ryan Harwood: Hey Emily, I have six now…I think?

JACKSON: Hi Ryan, great form of late. How did you find relocating to Brisbane? And do you have a nickname?

Ryan Harwood: Hi Jackson, the heat killed me. But it was pretty easy, good to get out of Tassie and see more of Aussie! Yeah, they call me Harzy.

Adam: Hey Rhino, great game on the weekend. Are there any boys that are picky on what colour Powerade they get after a match?

Ryan Harwood: Hey Adam, Rohan Bewick is actually - he likes the orange ones! Won't drink anything else!

Therese: Hi Ryan, it’s your sponsor here who came down to Melbourne for the HOF. Just wanted to say hi and well done again on another awesome game on Sunday! Good luck for the weekend mate.

Ryan Harwood: Hey Therese, I thought it was you. Thanks for all your support, great to see you at HOF and see you soon.

Angelo: Hey Ryan great work in the win last week! Just wondering how you're finding living so far from home for big parts of the year?

Ryan Harwood: Hello Angelo, it's easy for me, not going home doesn't really worry me. There's not a whole lot to do there.

Georgia: How do you think you boys will go on the weekend against the Swans??

Ryan Harwood: It’s going to be a tough game, but we’ve been playing good the last few weeks so hopefully we can continue that form.

Therese: So who's the next best dancer at the Club? After you of course... hehe

Ryan Harwood: Cal Bartlett, at least he thinks he is anyway…

Ella: Who do you spend the most time with at the Club?

Ryan Harwood: Hi Ella, probably my house mates - Cal and Golbs - and James Hawksley. Hawksley pretty much lives there anyway!

Nate: Hey Ryan, I loved your ‘mo’ bro. Do you pull plenty of chicks with that?

Ryan Harwood: Hey Nate, yeah it's only a few days growth mate. Needs to get a bit thicker though…haha

Jason: Hi Ryan, at what age did you really set yourself a goal of playing AFL?

Ryan Harwood: Hey Jason, probably when I was about 15. I hated school so I had to play footy haha

Luke: Hey man, how often do you get to have a good chat with Vossy?

Ryan Harwood: Hey Luke, we chat all the time but have a good sit down about once a month and go over everything.

James: What would be your favourite game of footy (seniors or even when you were a little tacker)??

Ryan Harwood: Hey James, my first game against Geelong.

John: Who is the best prankster around the Lions?

Ryan Harwood: Hi John, ummm I'd say Mitch Golby. He likes to toilet towel peoples’ cars.

Therese: Ryan, I hear that Sydney is a shorter ground than most - do you look at different tactics for different grounds?

Ryan Harwood: Grounds make a pretty big difference. We have a good talk about it before we play.

Connor: Hey Rhino... are you a footy fix man or do you prefer the challenge??

Ryan Harwood: Hi Connor, The Challenge because I have done a push up comp. Haven't even seen Footy Fix!

Matt: Hey Ry, I hear you like to fish. What's the best spot you've been to and what do you catch out there?

Ryan Harwood: Hey Matt, down at Jacobs Well. Caught a few Brim there…about 25! Got any good spots for me?!

Georgia: Do you think Dayne Zorko will stay with the Lions for a while? Hopefully he does, he is great!

Ryan Harwood: Hi Georgia, he's fit in really well and he's got a good spot for him up forward.

James: With regards to HOF, when you first arrived at the club, did you get a history of the Club verbally, or do you have to discover the history for yourself?

Ryan Harwood: Hey James, we get a booklet with the history of our jumper and it occasionally gets brought up before games.

Kay: If you couldn't play footy what would you be doing?

Ryan Harwood: Hey Kay, um fishing! I'd be a professional fisherman or join the Army.

Rodge: Hey! What's your favourite thing about Brissy?

Ryan Harwood: Hi Rodge, Kotobuki! Haha

JACKSON: Are there any footballers at the Lions or elsewhere that you are trying to model parts of your game on?

Ryan Harwood: Hi Jackson, now that I am playing in the back line, hopefully I can learn off Jed, Patfull & Drummo.

Jake: What do you think about Ash naming his baby 'Chase Ashley McGrath'? Is he trying to be funny?

Ryan Harwood: Hi Jake, yeah he told us he was going to name the baby after himself…haha

Wally: There seems to be fair bit of positivity around the Club at the moment... What do you think is the most important thing for the Club's future?

Ryan Harwood: There’s a lot of buzz going round. I think it’s important to get the young blokes up and going as part of our future over the next few years.

Therese: Happy Birthday for the weekend - reckon a win would be a pretty good present!

Ryan Harwood: Haha my birthdate is actually wrong, it's in August! The 7th...

Mark: How tough is the step up from NEAFL to AFL?

Ryan Harwood: Hi Mark, it's a lot quicker. You don't have much time on the footy, and turnovers cost ya.

Dani: How are you feeling about playing and learning a new position at the Club??? Do you enjoy the challenge?

Ryan Harwood: I've taken the challenge on, and yeah, I suppose I just had to adapt to keep playing. I’m starting to really like being down back now. It’s only been a few games.

Sarah: Hey Ry! Are there any rules on what happens on footy trips stays on footy trips? ;)

Ryan Harwood: Sounds about right haha

James: Did you wear No.2 in your junior days? It’s a better number then 26, but our new No.26 is a good find!

Ryan Harwood: Hi James, Albert Proud asked me to wear it when he left. We were pretty good mates.

Dani: Have you started planning what you are going to do at the end of this season??

Ryan Harwood: Hey Dani, yeah we are planning a trip away! Should be good.

Jessie: That's adorable Ry!! Do you and Albie still keep in touch?

Ryan Harwood: Yeah, occasionally catch up when we can

Thanks for all the questions, gotta run. See you at a game soon.
GO LIONS!!!
