THE BRISBANE Lions lost their heads as the Sydney Swans laid the foundations for Saturday's 20-point win, according to coach Michael Voss.

The Swans kicked eight goals unanswered to set up the victory, which was in part inspired by ex-Lion Daniel Bradshaw, who kicked six goals at full-forward for the Swans.

Bradshaw capped his personal day out with a 60-metre torpedo from the forward pocket at three-quarter time, which helped take the game away from the Lions.

"After the siren you can go for anything, I guess," said Voss after the game.

"That goal ... was pretty significant in the context of the game.

"We know Bradshaw is a good player. He moves very well and gets in that space. He obviously had the better of Joel Patfull, but when (Matt) Maguire went down there I thought (Maguire) held his own and he took that forward position."

With back-to-back losses trimming the Lions' season record to 4-2, Voss was both critical of his players' skills and proud of their effort.

"We made it tough for ourselves, to be honest. We got away to a really good start but they kicked eight goals in a row and we lost our heads through that period of time as well as our structure. They started to win the footy and were able to score pretty easily.

"From there we were trying to claw our way back."

The Lions were repeatedly pegged back as they mounted a second half comeback, and it was this inability to build scoreboard pressure that Voss lamented.

"I thought the second half was pretty good. We started to get our hands on the footy but we always appeared like we were one goal away from being able to get back in it, but we couldn't quite get that one goal.

"Overall we got a little bit desperate and they capitalised. In the end that was the significant difference."
