One follower's personal view of his Brisbane Lions Football Club for people to consider. Reproduced with permission.

Dear Michael Bowers, Michael Voss, Jonathan Brown, players old and new, and the Board of the Brisbane Lions,

I have just finished reading the open letter to members up on the website and thought that I would respond. I have been a member of the Lions for some time and consider myself an absent Queenslander living in Western Australia. I am a proud Lions Supporter.

The Lions have been very busy since the season ended and my initial reaction to what was going on was “horrified”. I could not believe that you could want Brendan Fevola. Let me also tell you that on the appointment of Michael Voss as senior coach, I also had a similar yet not as passionate reaction, thinking: What have you done to appoint an untried coach into the senior job. How Wrong Could I Be!

After some thought on the matter, I feel strongly enough to write and express my support for your direction. After looking at what has happened over the last month it is clear that the Board, Football Department and Michael Voss are thinking objectively and not emotionally.

I am sure that there have been many sleepless nights over some of these decisions, however I can see that these are all for the good of the club as a whole and not just for an individual. I can see that we have a window of opportunity to position ourselves for a tilt on the Premiership and that is what both Michael’s and the Football Dept are doing.

I would like to congratulate the Board for proving me wrong with the appointment of Michael Voss as Senior Coach (Vossy, I have the utmost respect for you as a player, I just was not sure if you were ready for the senior job. Please accept my apologies for doubting one of the all time great Lions players. May you go on to be one of the all-time great Lions Coaches. I have always said that there are very few players that can step from Player to Senior Coach with little Assistant experience. Congratulations on being one of a special few). I would also like to congratulate you on the bravery of your Trade Week plan. I hope you prove me wrong yet again.

Once again thank you for your direction with MY club. You have my support as you have proven again and again that you have MY club's best interests at heart.

Go Lions

PS: Who wouldn’t want to see the two leading goal scorers in the AFL in the forward line?
