Brisbane Lions Captain Jonathan Brown became the greatest ever goal-kicker in the merged Club's history today after booting three goals against Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium in Launceston.

Brown's three goals took his career tally to 498, surpassing former team-mate Daniel Bradshaw's previously held record of 496 goals with the Lions.

The 29 year-old has also moved into fourth position on the Club's all-time goal-kicking list behind Alastair Lynch (633 goals with Fitzroy, the Bears and the Lions), Jack Moriarty (626 goals with Fitzroy) and Bernie Quinlan (576 goals with Fitzroy).

He is now just two goals shy of becoming just the 49th player in VFL/AFL history to kick 500 career goals - a milestone he will be hoping to reach next Sunday when the Lions host Geelong at the Gabba.

"It's a tremendous honour and something that I will look back on at the end of my career with pride," Brown said.
