Victorian-based Lions member Sam Marasco has submitted the following tribute poem to Lions Captain Jonathan Brown ahead of his imminent on-field return.

Sam actually recited this poem at the recent Historical Society function at Etihad Stadium in front of Brown himself who was a special guest at the event.

Now the Club wishes to share it among its fans.

He came from Warrnambool
And stood six foot five
Played in three flags for Brisbane
And kept his team alive

He's the Lion King
The skipper of the team
Vossy's on-field leader
So the Lions can reign supreme

Brian Brown his father
Played for Fitzroy
Produced a magnificent son
For the Brisbane Lions to employ

He drew a game against Sydney
With a big goal after the bell
But in Round One this year
His season turned to hell

He was collected by an accidental knee
For his courage has no bounds
Now he's back and ready to shine
Against North Melbourne in Round Nine
