The one-hour special will kick-start the Lions' season in style, screening into Queensland in the hour prior to the Lions' opening round clash against Melbourne, which will also be shown live into Queensland on 7mate at 12.30pm (AEST).

Into the Lions’ Den will provide not only Lions members and supporters, but also AFL fans, with a unique insight into the Brisbane Lions,” CEO Malcolm Holmes said.

“Club-driven media content, with support from our presenting partner Hyundai, is bringing our fans closer to the action than they’ve ever been before.

“Following the success of Lions TV in 2011, we felt it was important for us to continue to drive this key area of the business, which is opening up even greater opportunities for the Club to engage with our commercial partners as well as our fans.”

The gripping special showcases exclusive never before seen footage captured by LIONS TV across the pre-season, as well as interviews with Senior Coach Michael Voss, captain Jonathan Brown, vice-captain Jed Adcock, Lions No.1 draft pick Billy Longer and veteran recruit Ben Hudson. The Lions' Club Champion in 2011, Tom Rockliff, also demonstrates what is required to make the grade in 2012, while Daniel Merrett showcases some of his favourite locations in Brisbane to unwind away from footy.

But the most compelling viewing has to be when Brent Staker invites the audience into the hospital with him as he prepares for a knee reconstruction.

In one scene, a candid Staker openly reveals his state of mind as he waits for the surgeon: "It makes it a bit easier that I've been through it...Makes it a bit easier.

“This is probably just too many times though...Too many times that I've been here for a knee, but that's our job, isn't it, part of being a footballer unfortunately that you've got to take the good with the bad."

The special will also be replayed into Queensland only on 7mate following the Lions' Round Two clash against Carlton from 11.00pm on Thursday, April 5.

All segments will also be shown on LIONS TV, via lions.com.au, after the special airs on 7mate, including extended footage and outtakes.
