Lions full-back Daniel Merrett has accepted a reprimand handed to him by the AFL Tribunal yesterday.

Merrett was charged with a Level One engaging in rough conduct offence against Collingwood forward Anthony Rocca during the third quarter of Friday night’s match at the Gabba.

The incident was assessed as negligent contact (one point), medium impact (two points) and body contact (one point). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a subsequent one-match sanction.

However, Merrett’s early guilty plea reduced the penalty by 25% to 93.75 demerit points towards his future record.

The Lions full-back will be now available to play against Sydney at the Gabba on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, Sydney’s Adam Goodes will contest a one-match sanction handed to him by the Tribunal for striking Port Adelaide’s Matt Thomas on Sunday.
