Following Wednesday’s 5pm deadline for all clubs’ second list lodgement, the AFL has confirmed the final selection order for the 2011 AFL National Draft which will be held on Thursday 24 November in Sydney.

The Brisbane Lions will have a total of five picks available at the selection meeting - Pick No.8, Pick No.12, Pick No.30, Pick No.47 and Pick No.69.

However, the Lions have already signalled their intention to use their final pick (Pick No.69 overall) on officially promoting rookie Mitch Golby to the Club’s senior list.

With the exception of the AFL’s newest team GWS (who have 11 of the first 14 selections), the Lions are positioned to be the second biggest players on draft night with two picks inside the top dozen.

Lions National Talent Manager Rob Kerr believes those two first round picks, in particular, will help build the Club’s young list.

“To have two picks inside the top 12 in a compromised draft is a terrific result, and will put us in a good position to recruit two talented young players,” Kerr said.
