Jack Redden, Jed Adcock and Joel Patfull have been nominated by their teammates for the AFL Players’ Association Most Valuable Player Award.

The MVP remains the only peer voted award in the AFL industry and is celebrating its 30th year since conception. The winner is awarded the Leigh Matthews Trophy and recognises qualities such as versatility, ability to perform under pressure, leadership and courage.

Redden, Patfull and Adcock are joined by Jonathan Brown who has been nominated as Best Captain, as well as the Robert Rose Most Courageous Player Award, a title Brown won for the third time in 2011.

Mature age recruit Dayne Zorko has been rewarded for his persistence and excellent second half of 2012 with nomination for the Best First Year Player Award - a fantastic result considering he is ineligible for the NAB AFL Rising Star award.

As in previous years, the MVP voting process begins with each team voting for those three players which provide the best overall value to their own team.

Then, in the second round of voting, all AFL players choose from the list of 51 nominees to determine who will be the MVP (they cannot vote for players from their own team in second round).

The 2012 AFL Players’ Association MVP Award Winners will be announced on Tuesday 11 September at Peninsula, Shed 14 Central Pier, Docklands and will be broadcast exclusively on Fox Footy Channel at 9.30pm.
