BRISBANE Lions coach Michael Voss says Saturday night's match against Collingwood is all about regaining respect.
Voss was furious after a 67-point loss to Essendon at Etihad Stadium last week and said the 2-4 Lions could not afford to take another step back against the Magpies.
"Last week the disappointing thing was we certainly didn't gain any respect, we probably lost some and we're not in a position where we can afford to lose ground on those sorts of things," Voss said.
"The things we hold our store for is about being able to attack the footy and provide a good contest and make it hard for the opposition, and we weren't able to do that last week, so for us that has to be our starting point and we build from there."
The Lions have made five changes, with returning tagger Andrew Raines and classy defender Josh Drummond joined in the side by debutant Dayne Zorko and defenders Niall McKeever and James Hawksley.
Voss said while earning respect came with notching wins, it was about more than that for him.
"You have to be able to earn it in different ways too and that's how you go about your football, not so much what you get in the end result," he said.
"It (winning) certainly helps your cause and your message though."
Voss was full of praise for the experienced Collingwood midfield and said the Lions were trying to establish a similar unit with their young group.
Raines will mind either Dane Swan or Scott Pendlebury and Voss said limiting their influence was all he expected of his tagger.
"We've got to be absolutely on our game and if we can produce that, I'm certainly more than confident in this group they can get the result for us."
