There are only five matches remaining for our Club this year and we are determined to fight them out and try and regain some respect back from the public.

I won’t lie, the past few months have been tough.

We’ve all been working really hard on the track to try and turn things around, but it doesn’t seem to be translating on the field. It can be a real kick in the guts when your effort isn’t rewarded with wins.

I guess a lack of confidence has played a massive part in that.

The good thing is that confidence can be regained pretty easily. All it takes is one good win and the players’ self belief will start to re-ignite.

We really hope that we can salvage something from our last five games. I can assure our members and supporters that we’re certainly not putting our cue back in the rack and going through the motions until our season ends. We intend to make the most of what’s left of 2010 and hopefully bring some joy to our fans.

To do so, we need a better effort collectively on the field. I thought there were some improvements against the Cats last weekend, but we lost by 10 goals so there’s still plenty of work to do.

Everyone at the Club is on notice. If you don’t at least put in the effort, then you will be replaced in the side by someone who will.

I guess I was one of the guys who paid the price last week. I’d had a couple of quiet games and was left out of the side that travelled to Geelong.

The coaches have explained what they want me to work on, and I’m committed to doing that and returning to the senior side soon.

This week’s game against Melbourne will have a special Chinese flavour about it considering we play the Demons later in the year as part of the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.

There will be some Kung Fu demonstrations before Saturday night’s game and I hear that more than 500 international students will be in attendance.

Myself and Michael Rischitelli are headed to The University of Queensland on Wednesday to conduct a skills clinic with some of their international students. It’s going to be great to see so many people from other cultures embracing our game.

Personally, I think it’s a great opportunity for our Club to be part of the first ever exhibition AFL game played in China. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and hopefully something that will benefit us all in the long run.
