BRISBANE Lions coach Michael Voss lavished praise on his team’s willingness to work for each other after Saturday night’s 32-point win against West Coast.

Voss said he was in awe of the Lions’ ability to overcome adversity after they played the entire second half with just two players on the bench.

While he said power forwards Jonathan Brown (five goals) and Brendan Fevola (three), along with leading midfielder Jared Brennan were outstanding, Voss was most pleased with the all-round team effort.

"I must admit, out of tonight, I’m a bit in awe of our group," he said.

"We had guys cramping all over the place and they found something.

"You can only do that when you’ve got that internal little bit, that fire in the belly, the will to win, and they showed that in spades tonight.

"It needed everybody to make that effort, we needed to change roles and it was hard to get that continuity.

"We wouldn’t have been able to do it without them having that attitude."

Voss said he was pleased with the spacing Brown and Fevola gave each other as the two dominated a strong West Coast backline.

"In a game like that where it does become a war of attrition you need everyone," he said.

"I highlighted some individuals in the team meeting, but that’s a slap in the face to the others.

"The fact of the matter is, every single player had to be able to do it.

"You need others to step up. We don’t just want Jonathan Brown to be able to do it and Luke Power and Simon Black - our other leaders all showed an element of leadership tonight and that’s a credit to them."

The Lions kicked seven goals to two in a dominant last term that had them entering the forward 50 an incredible 23 times.

"If we get the ball in the forward line 23 times in a quarter, our forward line’s going to score, I’ll guarantee that."
