Did you know that four current Brisbane Lions players hold the Club record for most games in their particular guernsey numbers?

They are Ash McGrath (#9), Jonathan Brown (#16), Simon Black (#20), and…Jack Crisp (#47).

That’s right, 19 year-old Jack Crisp has played more senior games in the Number 47 jumper than any other player throughout the Club’s combined 126-year VFL/AFL history (Fitzroy and Bears included).

It’s a unique honour for Crisp, who started his debut AFL season as a rookie before earning an early upgrade and going on to play 10 senior matches in 2012.

It proved more than enough to edge him past former Fitzroy player Tony Hirst, who previously held the record for most matches in the Number 47 with just six games back in 1963.

In fact, before Crisp inherited the jumper, it had been worn by only nine past players in a senior match for a combined total of just 34 games.

It remains the ‘least worn’ of any number below 50 at the Club, with the Number 48 (currently occupied by Stephen Wrigley) the next in line with 56 matches across 126 years of history.

Should Crisp go on to play 100 senior matches for the Lions, he will be forever etched in Club history as the first player to appear on the Number 47 locker at the Gabba.
