BRISBANE Lions midfielder Jack Redden said there was never any doubt he would re-sign with the Lions after inking a three-year deal on Tuesday.

Redden, from South Australia, completed an impressive signing spree from the Lions over the past 12 months that has locked up its bright young stars to multi-year deals.

Tom Rockliff (2014), Matthew Leuenberger (2013) and Daniel Rich (2013) all extended their contracts last year, along with regular seniors Todd Banfield, James Polkinghorne and Pearce Hanley.

Since making his debut in 2009, Redden has not missed a senior match, playing 54 consecutive games, and said he never contemplated going elsewhere.

"I'm rapt that I've signed when I have so now I can focus on my footy," Redden said.

"I'm here with my mates and loving every bit of it.

"It's a good, young, developing group at the Brisbane Lions. The boys have shown a bit of loyalty to hang around. There's a good bunch of young prospects that have signed and that helped me.

"Also, I'm good mates with a lot of the boys here so I'm excited for the future."

Redden enjoyed a stellar 2011 season, finishing third in the club's best and fairest and winning the club’s Most Courageous award, named after premiership player Shaun Hart.

Redden finished inside the top three at the Lions in total disposals, marks and tackles, and laid the second most tackles of anyplayer in the AFL.

Although Mitch Clark's departure to Melbourne has opened up a position in the Lions' leadership group - that is yet to be announced - the 21-year-old said higher honours were not on his mind.

"That will come in time, but individual goals and team goals are the main thing," he said.

"The big one for us is our midfield group. We've got a lot of young boys coming through and it's important we get as much out of people like Simon Black with all of his experience before he finishes."

Redden said he was looking forward to opening his season in the NAB Cup against Melbourne and the Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium on Saturday night.
