Roos maintains a strong association with the Sydney Swans with whom he played 87 games for in the final four seasons of his playing days.
He underwent a coaching stint over in the United States before being appointed as Sydney’s caretaker coach for the final weeks of 2002.
His tactical expertise and ability to get the best out of his players earned him the full-time senior coaching position and he went on to lead the Swans to a breakthrough premiership in 2005.
As part of a pre-determined succession plan, Roos handed the Swans’ coaching reigns over to his former assistant John Longmire at the end of 2010, but has continued his involvement with the Swans as the coach of their Academy side.
His long history with both the Lions and Swans, and extensive knowledge of the game itself, makes him the perfect guest for this Saturday night’s premiere match-day event.
