Traditional rivals Morningside and Southport are the favourites to contest the 2010 QAFL Grand Final according to a local bookmaker.

Reigning premiers Morningside are the 7/4 favourite to go back-to-back, while Southport are marginally behind at 5/2.

The Brisbane Lions Reserves are third favourite at 3/1, with some expectation that the prospect of the seniors going deep into the AFL Finals will ensure the side is primed in September.

The Lions won the 2001 QAFL premiership under Craig Brittain, but have struggled to win a final since then despite repeated appearances.

The NT Thunder, under new coach Murray Davis and with a key defensive recruit in Shaun Tapp, are considered a chance at 5/1.

The big surprise is grand finalist Mt Gravatt, who are only on the fifth line of betting at 8/1 alongside Redland and Labrador.

The recruiting of Peter ‘Spida’ Everitt and Tim Notting has played a big part in the shortish odds of Labrador, who have contested just two finals series in their 13 seasons in the QAFL.

Aspley have recruited some outstanding talent but their depth is obviously a question mark with odds of 33/1.

Broadbeach’s lack of experience and height has seen their odds posted at 80/1.

Punters can write their own ticket on the Western Magpies winning the flag, with the market framed more around whether the black and whites can win a game.
