FAST FOOTY FACTS
The Eagles hold the best record of any AFL team against the Brisbane Lions.

Prior to their breakthrough 27-point triumph at Subiaco last season, the Lions had only beaten the Eagles once over at Subiaco since 1997 – that was by 22 points in Round 11 of 2001.

East Perth recruit and Lions ruckman Matthew Leuenberger made his senior debut against the Eagles in Round 14 last year and has since played nine consecutive senior matches.

The Lions have recruited seven of their current senior listed players from Western Australia. They are: Simon Black, Mitch Clark, Bradd Dalziell, James Hawksley, Matthew Leuenberger, Ashley McGrath and Matthew Moody.

Former Eagle Chris Judd certainly won’t be missed by the Lions this weekend. He had previously polled Brownlow Medal votes in five of the past eight clashes between the two sides.

LAST TIME THEY MET
Donning the 1996 Fitzroy Guernsey for the AFL’s Heritage Round, the Lions entered the match against the reigning premiers as rank underdogs but came away with a famous 27-point victory.

The Lions weathered an early Eagles storm in the last term before Jonathan Brown, Jared Brennan and Robert Copeland goaled to seal their first win in eight weeks and their first against the Eagles in Perth since 2001.

Brown and Brennan each finished with four goals apiece while Robert Copeland kicked an equal career-best three goals.

Simon Black, Rhan Hooper, Jed Adcock and Nigel Lappin were prominent while Tim Notting collected an equal career-high 31 disposals.

Brownlow Medal Votes: 3 - J. Brennan (BL), 2 - S. Black (BL), 1 - R. Hooper (BL)
