Lions Physical Performance Manager Brett Burton catches up with lions.com.au to give his weekly update on the Club’s injury list.

Xavier Clarke
X has had a good week on the training track and is looking to be back this week or next week. When you’re coming back from a reconstruction we like to leave it in the player’s hands towards the end of the rehab because we want them to have the confidence to be able to go into the game. He’s fully fit so it all depends on how he feels and when he’s ready to be back.

Josh Drummond
He is travelling along really well. He’s got another two training sessions to complete this week, and if he gets through those then he’ll play this week.

Matt Maguire
Matt is recovering as planned with his quad and is looking to play round 6,

Bart McCulloch
Bart’s recovery is all on track and going well. He will be looking to play in Round 7.

Jonathan Brown
Browny is going along really well. It’s going to be hard to try to hold him back because with a facial injury you can pretty much do everything. So in terms of function, he’s able to do everything except basically getting hit in the face. It’s good because he’s treating the next six weeks as another pre-season so when he gets back and playing in round 9 he’ll be raring to go.

Brent Staker
Brent's going well. He’s off crutches and walking normally now. He’s just starting on his strength program and is getting into some cross training as well, so things are looking good for Brent at this stage.

Ryan Lester
We will reassess Ryan’s foot injury at the end of the week. He’s been in a boot and on crutches all week so we’ll re-scan and see where that’s at, and make a decision from there.

Callum Bartlett
He’s still got some frustrations with his knee. He’s obviously been out for a long period of time. We’re hitting a couple of hurdles but it’s nothing we can’t overcome. It’s certainly a long-term view to when he’ll return to play.

Jamie Charman
Charman started running yesterday for the first time in a long time and pulled up really well so that gives him great confidence and we can now increase his running over the next few weeks, so a really good result there.
