THE LURE of playing a home final has put a spring into the step of Brsibane Lions captain Jonathan Brown.

After registering their first win in a month against Port Adelaide on Saturday night, the skipper says spirits are high in the Lions' den.

The side is guaranteed a home final against either Carlton or Adelaide if they beat the Swans at the SCG on Saturday night.

“The boys are really up,” Brown said.

“Plenty of enthusiasm this morning and plenty of vibe and you know that you’re right on the eve of a finals series.”

“The last three weeks we have been struggling for form, no doubts, but there’s been no doubts about our team spirit and the amount of fight we’ve shown throughout the season.”

Brown believed the way they overcame a 47-point deficit to beat Port Adelaide was just the kick along the players needed to give them some momentum heading into finals.

“It just shows you’re never out of a game, it’s a great lesson,” Brown said.

“But even out there at quarter time there was no real panic, Vossy wasn’t panicking in the way he was speaking to us, we still believed there was long enough to get back into it.”

Brown is hoping for a long-awaited, full four-quarter effort against the Swans, but he’s already banking on the fact that week one of the finals won’t be the end.

The Lions have not played finals since the 2004 Grand Final against Port Adelaide.

“We want to go as far as we can,” Brown said.

“We don’t want to just dip our toes back in it, we want to get back into it full on so it’s exciting.”

“I know I’ve got a spring in my step, this is what you play footy for.”

The Swans will be farewelling Michael O'Loughlin, Leo Barry and Jared Crouch, ensuring a fierce contest.

“There will be a bit of emotion and sentiment there for those guys so we know they’re going to be up and ready to go from the start,” Brown said.

“But we’ve got a big carrot dangling on the end of it as well and that’s trying to achieve a home final which would be a massive achievement in itself.”
