The Brisbane Lions have made just one change to the senior team to take on Melbourne this Sunday at the Gabba, with Jared Polec named to replace injured defender Matt Maguire.

Polec was omitted from the side that defeated the Western Bulldogs by 58-points last weekend, but more than earned his senior recall after booting four goals from the wing while playing with the Lions Reserves.

The 19 year-old has featured in all but two of the Lions’ senior matches in 2012, and is currently ranked equal 7th at the Club in total goals.

Polec comes into the side after Maguire was ruled out for the next month with an elbow injury suffered in the first quarter against the Bulldogs.

The hole in defence left by Maguire’s absence looks likely to be filled by team-mates Joel Patfull, Niall McKeever and Josh Drummond.

Patrick Karnezis, Elliot Yeo and Jack Crisp will form the emergency list after being originally named in the preliminary 25-man squad on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Simon Black is set to play for his 306th game, taking him into equal third position on the Club’s all-time games list alongside former premiership team-mate Alastair Lynch. Only Kevin Murray (333) and Marcus Ashcroft (318) have played more Club games than Black and Lynch.

The Lions’ final Round 14 team is as follows:
