Lions Dream Team mid-season report
The competition is heating up in the Lions’ inaugural Dream Team League as we head into the second half of the AFL season.
With some great prizes up for grabs including a team signed Lions guernsey, team-signed Sherrin football and a Lions merchandise pack, Dream Team coaches will now be closely surveying their valuable trades and starting to shape their sides for the all-important run home.
Stephen Linton’s ‘TruthOrConsequence’ is in the box seat, leading the Lions’ competition and showing no signs of slowing down although CheyneB Brooke’s ‘Cloke’n’mirrors’ is not far behind.
Meanwhile, Kris Forbes’ ‘Forbestars’ have been quietly going about their business and with plenty of rounds remaining, could easily jump into first place in the coming weeks.
In fact, the nature of the Dream Team competition means that there are plenty of teams still in the running to take home the outright first prize.
Those who have already hung up the boots and are already looking towards 2011 for redemption can still take something out of this year’s competition by testing themselves against the Lions players and staff.
Lions Media Coordinator Sam Lord is the highest ranked Club official in 79th place closely followed by Performance Analysis Manager Jarrod Harkness who sits 95th.
Jed Adcock is the best of the actual Lions players in 257th place while Justin Sherman (482nd) and Ash McGrath (513th) are making up some ground after slow starts.
On the field, Michael Rischitelli leads the way with the most Dream Team points at the Club (1,233) from Vice-Captain Luke Power (1,091) and Rising Star Daniel Rich (1,015).
Rischitelli has been a consistent Dream Team scorer in 2010, averaging close to 95 points per game.
Power has once again proven capable of some big scores while Rich has been the big mover recently with three 100+ scores from his past five matches.
Travis Johnstone is ranked fourth overall with 985 points and still holds the honour of having the highest total from one match when he scored 162 points against North Melbourne back in Round 11.
19 year-old Jack Redden has moved into fifth place overall following a team-high 117 points against Richmond at the Gabba last weekend.
Redden racked up 25 disposals, took nine marks and laid eight tackles in the team’s loss to the Tigers last Saturday night.
The Club wishes all registered teams in the Lions’ Dream Team competition all the best for the remainder of the season. We will keep you posted with regular updates on who is leading the race to become the Club’s first ever Dream Team champion.
