New Chairman for The Brisbane Lions Foundation
The Brisbane Lions Foundation has elevated its Director Richard May to the position of Foundation Chairman effective immediately.
The appointment follows the retirement of long-time Foundation Chairman and former Lions Number One Ticketholder John Pearce in mid-September this year.
Pearce, who also became a Lions Life Member in 2008, nominated Richard May as his natural successor.
Pearce has served as Chairman of The Brisbane Lions Foundation which he founded from day one. He brought a wealth of senior management expertise, financial support and sporting passion to the role which was gratefully acknowledged and appreciated by the Foundation Board.
Richard May has also served as a Board Member on The Brisbane Lions Foundation since its inception. As a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a former partner of KPMG and financial advisor to a number of privately owned businesses, he was the natural selection as new Chairman.
“Richard brings invaluable business acumen, leadership skills and the dedication required to take The Foundation to the next stage”, Mr Pearce said.
The Brisbane Lions Foundation is an independent, non-profit, national organisation established to provide members and supporters with the opportunity to contribute directly to a sustainable capital and investment base that will assure the Club’s on-going success.
The Foundation is managed by a separate Board of Directors to guarantee all monies raised are secure and professionally spent. Assistance is provided to the Brisbane Lions AFC in a number of ways including the funding of special projects and through long-term financial strategies.
