A TUG of war is developing between the Brisbane Lions and Greater Western Sydney for the services of retired Lion Luke Power.
Power's future has been heavily discussed since the 31-year-old announced his shock retirement immediately following Saturday night's eight-point loss against West Coast.
Power has been linked to GWS where he has close associations with former Lions and current Giants' employees Graeme Allan (GM football operations) and Craig Lambert (football manager/welfare).
The triple premiership player met with GWS on Monday, but the Giants have quashed any speculation he will be playing there in 2012.
"We've met with Luke and of course we're interested in attracting the best people we can to this football club," a GWS spokesperson said.
"We've had discussions with Luke about joining us in a coaching capacity."
The Lions said they would talk to Power about his future, but would let the dust settle first.
"We haven't spoken to Luke about his future at this stage. He's very busy at the moment with the CBA negotiations in Melbourne but when things settle down, we'll explore all options with him," a Lions' spokesman said.
"He has been a great player and ambassador for our club and we'd like nothing more than to keep him involved with the game up here."
Power retired after 282 games and 14 seasons at the Lions.
The 2004 All Australian said he was initially keen to play on next season, but after some open discussions with coach Michael Voss, mutually decided retirement was his best option.
