Lions rookie Anthony Corrie will make his long awaited return to the field this weekend when the Suncoast Lions take on Southport at the Gabba tomorrow.
Corrie has spent over 12 months in rehabilitation from a serious knee injury he sustained against the Dockers in Round 9 last season. The severity of the injury forced him to sit on the sidelines for longer than fellow 2006 knee reconstruction victims Richard Hadley and Joel Macdonald.
Corrie has been added to the Suncoast Lions' side this week together with 2006 draftee Sam Sheldon who has missed the past 10 weeks with a broken leg.
Suncoast, who currently sit in fourth place on the AFLQ Velocity Sports Cup ladder, will have their work cut out for them this week against reigning premier Southport.
Chris Johnson, Chris Scott, Mitch Clark and Scott Harding are among some of the other senior players that are scheduled to play in the match.
Matt Moody, however, will be missing for the Suncost Lions after being given a late call-up to the senior team to replace injured defender Josh Drummond.
Lions Senior Coach Leigh Matthews confirmed that a knee injury would force Drummond to miss this week's match against the Kangaroos and named Moody as his replacement.
