Senior Coach Michael Voss believes the Brisbane Lions have been able to address some of the Club’s deficiencies during the AFL exchange period.

At the beginning of the off-season, the Lions had openly stated that they would be targeting a couple of mature players - with a particular focus on key position players and midfielders - and, as a result, recruited former Melbourne pair Brent Moloney and Stefan Martin.

Moloney’s signing as a free agent was designed to give the Lions greater midfield depth, while Martin provides greater flexibility among the Club’s big man stocks.

Voss told The Sunday Mail that both players are expected to fill valuable roles next season.

"We've recruited our tall (Stefan Martin) and bolstered our midfield (Brent Moloney) during the trade period and we have a few good draft picks at our disposal, so we are comfortable where we're at," Voss said.

The Lions also seem to have resurfaced in talks surrounding former Adelaide forward Kurt Tippett, who was unable to find a new home during the Trade Period.

Despite nominating Sydney as his preferred destination, Tippett’s fate now looks set to be decided via the draft process.

But Voss said Tippett’s surprise availability isn’t a priority for the Lions, who are less than a week away from commencing pre-season training.

"We'll monitor the situation with Kurt like everyone else, but we are into our pre-season preparation and getting on with things."
