William from Bardon (QLD)
No we just wear the blue jumpers. We have two sets of training jumpers - one is blue and one is maroon so we don’t dress in opposition colours cause we don’t really need it.
In the week leading up to a night game, does the team train at night to tune in to the conditions and to get the body clock right?
Richard from Bardon (QLD)
We train during the day Richard. We used to train at night but it’s pretty much all about getting your body right and recovering before the game so that’s why we train at that time of day.
Are you happy that you’re in the finals for Brain Busters on Lions TV?
Josh from Brisbane (QLD)
Yeah I’m stoked to be in the finals of Brain Busters. The Coaches one is on now and I really hope that Adrian Fletcher can get in there because it will be a massive surprise if he does.
Hey Ash, who is aerobically the fittest at the club, who has the best beep test results, and the best 3 km time trial and do they let the other boys know about it?
Jason from Loganlea (QLD)
The fittest bloke at the Club is probably our Irishman Niall McKeever. He’s good in the 3km time trials. Blacky used to hold the beep test record but a few of the younger boys coming through have taken him down.
What do you think of the interchange rule?
Amanda from Burnie (TAS)
Interchange rule is a bit of a funny one. I really can’t say too much about it, but it’s around for now so we all have to live with it!
Hey Ash! One of commentators said that Blacky is going to retire after next year. Is this true?
Alysha from Brisbane (QLD)
I haven’t heard that commentator. I think the old bloke might have a couple more years left in him. The way he’s playing, it doesn’t look like he’s getting old. I think he’ll retire the day he can grow a beard. That’s a fair while away I’d say.
Do any of the players like to annoy Michael Voss? And which player reckons they’re the most handsome in the team?
Sarah from Melbourne (VIC)
None of the players like to annoy Vossy, well we try not to. I’m sure some of us annoy him sometimes.
There’s a few players in our team who think they are the most handsome - you’ve got Brent ‘heartbreaker’ Staker, Joel Patfull, Bart McCulloch. Take your pick.
Hey Ash, What stadium do you think is the best one in the country to play in? Obviously the Gabba is home, the G is amazing and I imagine Patersons may be special to you coming from WA, but do you have a favourite place to play?
Nathan from Rochedale (QLD)
I love playing at the Gabba, and the MCG because it’s the home of footy. You might think I’d like to play at Paterson’s cause I’m from WA but I prefer Etihad and AAMI Stadium in Adelaide, they’re my favourite grounds.
Who are you closest with at the club? And who do you find the funniest?
Carly from Melbourne (VIC)
I’m pretty close with everyone. It changes from week to week who you might go have a sandwich with. You just make sure you don’t go with Todd Banfield or Daniel Rich because you can bet they will always seem to leave their wallet at the Club.
The funniest would be probably Adrian Fletcher, our assistant coach. He’s one of the greatest talkers of all time.
