Just another stepping stone
Brisbane Lions coach Michael Voss says his team will be using tomorrow night’s game against the Adelaide Crows as a stepping stone to unfinished business
While both teams will be looking to gain different things from the match, it is the consistency of prolonged effort across the whole game that Voss will be looking for.
“We have some things we’ve still yet to achieve in the season, to really consolidate our progress as a footy team we’ve got to make sure that we finish out and follow through on what we said we’d do at the start of the season,” he said.
Taking heart from the fact they’ve beaten another finals-bound team at home in the Eagles, and their form and training leading into that game mirroring that coming into this game, Voss believes his Lions are back on an “upward swing”.
“They have preparation for finals and we have a few things that we want to make sure that we get out of the game to be able to make sure that we finish our season strong…and number one for us is making sure we just maintain our intensity over that four quarters.”
With Carlton’s on-ballers getting away last week, again the key battle will be in the midfield with Voss looking for his charges to be able to at least put enough pressure on the dangerous Adelaide midfield to give the Lions’ forwards as many chances as possible.
“When we’re getting it inside 50, we’re actually scoring at quite a good rate…so we’re getting lots of looks but we’ve just got to get it in there a few more times so that’s why the midfield battle and what happens across half-back is going to be a pretty crucial part of this game.”
