All Vodafone Brisbane Lions members are once again invited to cast their votes towards the second annual Members’ Player of the Year award. The popular award is selected purely by Lions members who are encouraged to submit votes for who they believe to be the three best performed players at the end of each week.

Votes must be provided in the familiar 3-2-1 Brownlow Medal format (using only Lions players) and must be received no later than 5:00pm on the Thursday following the match.

Member votes can be submitted by emailing competition@lions.com.au with the subject heading “Members Player of the Year”. Your membership number must also be included on the email for it to be eligible.

The member that awards the most votes throughout the season to the eventual winning player will win two free tickets to the Club Champion dinner on Saturday 4 October. In the event of a draw, one member will be randomly chosen as the sole winner.

The Members’ Player of the Year award will be officially presented to the player with the greatest number of votes at the Club Champion event. The winning member will not only help present the award but also have an exclusive photo taken with the newly honoured 2008 Members Player of the Year.

Simon Black was the overwhelming choice among the members last season, finishing a clear winner with 335 votes ahead of Club Champion Jonathan Brown and Jed Adcock who received 234 and 128 votes respectively.

Country member Lorraine Wheeldon from Tasmania was last year’s winning member after she awarded Black a total 37 votes across 21 matches – more than any other Lions member.

The club invites all members to register online and cast their vote for the 2008 Members Player of the Year.
