With a stroke of luck, the Brisbane Lions could well be sitting at 2-1 after three games rather than 0-3.

The Lions have been in winning positions against both Fremantle (Round 1) and Melbourne (Round 3), although bothe games ultimately ended in narrow losses.

But forward/ruckman Mitch Clark said the team is keeping the faith and feels they are close to securing their first four points of the season.

“We’re not far off it,” Clark said.

“We know if we play our roles and don’t have those mental lapses then we’ll be a pretty tough team to beat.”

“We’ve shown how we can play once we get our game style going. Hopefully we can prove it again next week against the Saints, but this time keep it up for the full four quarters.”

The task certainly won’t be an easy one for the Lions faced considering the will be facing a fiery St Kilda side who are also searching for their first win of 2011.

“They are a dangerous outfit whenever you play them,” Clark said.

“They’re obviously under the pump a bit so we expect they will come out out strong.”

“It’s a big test for us, so hopefully a big Lions crowd can get behind us. It will be good playing back at our house.”

Clark himself is coming off a productive game up forward where he collected an equal career-high 28 disposals, took 11 marks and kicked a goal.

“I was a lot happier with the way I played last week,” Clark said.

“Working my way up the ground a bit more as centre-half forward and having big Aaron Cornelius behind made me feel more confident in the role.”

“I’m not too sure how the coaches saw it, but I think it worked pretty well.”
