Voss on the team’s five-day training week

“We won’t do a lot. We’ll spend most of our time making sure the boys are ready to go this Thursday night.”

"Normally by the time we get to Thursday the guys are in pretty good shape, so it’s not really much of an issue as long as we make sure we get our recovery right.”

“The only thing we won’t get to do is train in between. Our week will be more about our recovery and ensuring that we come in with fresh legs.”

“We’d always like to have an extra couple of days, but the upside is that we get the opportunity to play in a blockbuster match here at the Gabba on Easter Thursday. It’s a big game for us and there should be a nice big crowd. The adrenalin and enthusiasm of the players will over-ride any fatigue.”

“On the other hand, it means the players get an extra day break for their next game. This means we go in knowing that we can have a real crack at it and then have a rest over the weekend.”

Voss on Jed Adcock and Amon Buchanan’s injuries

“Jed’s pretty good actually and walking around. He would be a 50/50 chance to play at this stage.”

“He made some quick advancements yesterday, but those types of injuries can often hang around for a bit.”

“We’ll wait and see how he goes in the next 48 hours or so. Obviously we have a short turnaround so we’ll give him as long as we possibly can.”

“Amon will have an operation on his thumb tomorrow (Tuesday). We’re still not sure about the severity of his injury - it’s largely determinant on whether it’s a clean break or not.”

“Best case would be he misses two weeks but it’s more likely to be in the 4-6 week range I would have thought.”

Voss on the excessive cramping last Saturday night

“I must admit, there was a lot more cramping than normal.”

“Across the whole competition when you look at the games, there were actually a lot of guys going down with cramp. It just shows the level of intensity goes up even from NAB Cup games to the real season.”

"How fast the games have been has been a real eye opener.”

Voss on facing Carlton this Thursday night

“Their level of intensity was quite high and their midfielders all joined in as you would expect them to.”

“Their defenders certainly get involved in the offensive part of the game. We need to apply pressure on them because we can’t afford to let them move the ball cleanly from one end to the other.”

“They rely a lot on their ‘general play’ goals - they are very good at it.”

“It’s going to be a good challenge for our smaller defenders to ensure that Eddie Betts, Chris Yarran and Mitch Robinson and these guys that tend to pop up for their one, two and three goals here and there are contained.”

“We’ve always had great clashes against Carlton. If you look at our recent matches, a lot of them have been decided by one kick. There have also been a few comebacks at the very least. So I’d anticipate it will be a pretty close game.”

“They’ve had a pretty good record against us so I would imagine that as a team they would come up very, very confident that they’ve got the arsenal to be able to beat us. They’ve already beaten us in a practice match.”
