Dream Team Diary
A quick disclaimer - I have never attempted doing an AFL Dream Team before.
So please forgive me in advance if you end up taking some of my advice and it ends up burning you.
But after getting a few pointers from some of the boys at the Club during the pre-season, I guess I’m as ready as ever to give it a crack.
My team ‘Polka Specials’ got off to a decent start on Saturday night with a few of my GWS boys giving me some good value.
For the record, I ended up picking James McDonald (98 points), Jonathan Giles (77 points), Curtly Hampton (77 points), Tim Mohr (74 points) and Stephen Coniglio (53 points) - even though I probably rotated half a dozen others through my team at different times last week.
The one I’m really dirty about is not getting Adam Kennedy who was the Giants’ top scorer with 116. He was in my team for the past couple of weeks, but I ended up swapping him at the last minute. Rookie mistake!
I’m pretty keen to hold onto to my trades, so probably won’t be pulling the trigger and picking him up next week.
I’ve got another few days to finalise the rest of my team before the Round One lockout and have some big decisions to make.
The biggest surrounds my good mates Tom Rockliff and Jack Redden in the midfield.
As it stands, I probably only have enough money in the bank to pick up one of them in the midfield. It’s just a matter of which one? Maybe I’ll get both guys to put forward their case to me during the week before making the final decision.
On the other hand, I could always try and shift some money so that I can make room for both of them…
My other hot Lions tips for 2012 AFL Dream Team are Mitch Golby (defender) and Ryan Lester (forward). Both guys are cheap and should play a fair bit of senior footy this year.
I’ll do my best to give you other insights throughout the season, but obviously I don’t want to give away ALL my secrets.
That’s probably it for my first Dream Team Diary, better get back to finalising my team for Round One!
Don’t forget, you can still put your team in the Lions’ group by clicking here.
