The Brisbane Lions wish to thank Football Manager Graeme 'Gubby' Allan for his tremendous service and contribution to the Club following his resignation which will take effect immediately.

Allan joined the Lions with former Senior Coach Leigh Matthews at the end of 1998 and has since been an influential part of the Club's football operations for the past 11 years.

He has long been considered among the best list management and recruiting strategists in the AFL after playing a significant off-field role in the Lions' hat-trick of premierships between 2001-2003.

Allan believed the timing was right to begin a new challenge and wished the Lions well as they strive for further success in 2010.

"I am very proud of this Club and its achievements and believe I am leaving it in a strong position and in good hands with Senior Coach Michael Voss," Mr Allan said.

"I have been fortunate to be involved in premierships with two great clubs in Brisbane and Collingwood, but the chance to work with a start-up club and build a football team from scratch is a rare opportunity."

Lions Chief Executive Michael Bowers today acknowledged Allan's outstanding contribution to the Club and wished him well.

"Gubby has been involved in football for a very long time and is widely regarded as one of the most knowledgeable and respected figures in our industry," Mr Bowers said.

"He has been a key component of our Club's success over the past decade."

"We are obviously disappointed to lose a key member of our off-field personnel, but now the Club is presented with an exciting opportunity."

Senior Coach Michael Voss also paid tribute to Allan's time at the Club having worked alongside him as both a player and coach.

"The contribution that Graeme Allan has made to this Club over a long period of time has been enormous," Voss said.

"From starting in 1999 as Leigh Matthews' right hand man to the last 18 months where he has helped with my own transition as Senior Coach of the Club."

"We wish him all the very best."
