Polks' Dream Team Diary
Tom Rockliff and Jack Redden have become so close that it’s even getting difficult to separate their statistics!
Last Saturday night was a prime example.
Reddo collected 24 disposals, took five marks and booted two goals, while Rocky had 29 touches, five marks and one goal.
In terms of AFL Dream Team points, Jack finished with a team-high 112 points against the Suns - just two clear of his good mate who was the second highest scoring Lions player. The difference between the two scores was the equivalent of just one handball.
But this seems to have been the case all season long, with both guys trading big scores to sit clearly at the top of the heap when it comes to AFL Dream Team scores at the Club.
Rockliff still has the edge overall with 1,643 points (at an average of 102.7 points per game), with Redden nipping at his heels with 1,612 (100.8 points per game).
Across their 16 matches this season, Rockliff has the edge in disposals (427 to 391), goals (15 to 7) and inside 50s (49 to 43), while Redden takes the points in tackles (94 to 74), marks (83 to 70), and clearances (73 to 71).
Whichever way you look at it, they’ve both been brilliant this season and will probably be standing beside each other again on the winners’ podium come Club Champion night - no doubt separated by only a very small margin.
Their closeness in almost every aspect of the game is almost enough to earn themselves one of those celebrity couple nicknames - like ‘Rocken’ or ‘Redcliff’.
POLKS’ TIP FOR THE WEEK
Our Club has been a pretty good breeding ground for AFL Dream Teamers looking for an affordable option who will make you some money.
Dayne Zorko has been the obvious example, although Elliot Yeo rocketed up $44K in value over the weekend after getting 22 touches against the Gold Coast last weekend.
If you’re in need for another downgrade option, keep your eyes on the Lions because there might be a few more bargains coming through in the latter part of the season.
Sam Docherty, Callum Bartlett and Stephen Wrigley, in particular, won’t cost you much and might get their chance at a senior AFL game soon.
