MIDFIELD COACH Simon Black says the Lions must focus on identified key areas of improvement if they are to limit the impact of GWS ahead of Sunday’s clash at Spotless Stadium.
“The contested ball, obviously every week that’s important”, Black said.
“I know the Giants would be very disappointed on their effort last week, I think they were down about 40 odd (contested possessions) against the Bulldogs so they’re going to come out very hungry in that regard.
“If we can win that as a midfield it’s going to be very important and then scores from stoppages. The Giants are very strong at that as well.
“We’ve got to try to slow them down and not let them get it on their terms.”
Black identified key forward Jeremy Cameron as one player the Lions must nullify on Sunday.
“There is such talent across the park for them. You look at their forward line they’ve got some super talented big guys.
“Jeremy Cameron is an obvious one, McCarthy’s been in good form.
“Our guys have really got to be able to compete and match them in there.”
