The Brisbane Lions' first Friday night home game blockbuster since 2001 against Collingwood has resulted in ticket sales not seen for the last three years at the Club.

By 5pm today – with the game just over 48 hours away – the Club confirms that 92% of the Gabba stadium seating is now either held by members or sold to the public.

Of the 3,800 General Admission tickets released today only about 600 remain after a frenetic day’s trading with adult GA tickets selling for $24.20 and junior GA tickets retailing for just $7.40.

In summary, just under 3,000 tickets remain in total from Categories One and Two and in General Admission. Category Three has sold completely.

However, people who sign up as Lions season members will have a guaranteed Category One seat made available to them from the premium stock the club is keeping in reserve for last minute sign-ups.

The standing Gabba record for a home crowd attendance is 37,224 for the Lions v Collingwood clash of Round 15 in 2005. The Club is now seriously threatening this record.

Brisbane Lions Chief Executive Michael Bowers said 'wait and see' members should purchase their season tickets right now to definitely secure Category 1 seating to Collingwood as well as save on gate entry prices to the other 10 home games of the year which includes Sydney, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs.

"Our memberships are up about 9% on last year but with the tremendous squeeze on daily ticket sales being applied by the public - members need to act right now or potentially face disappointment at a time when we really want them onboard,” he said.

Although stadium seating is selling fast, the Lions still have corporate boxes and match-day dining packages available for the Collingwood game and the full AFL season.

Ticketholders will get to see the Lions' fierce rivals Collingwood looking for revenge after being hammered by the Lions in Round 17 last year at the MCG.

Another high-interest Lions game is just around the corner with the Lions meeting the Swans under lights on Saturday 5 April at the Gabba. Category 1, 2 and 3 seating went on sale for the Sydney clash yesterday in the shadow of the Collingwood ticket sales.

Many spectators will remember Jonathan Brown’s monster 60-metre kick from the boundary line on the final siren to draw the cliffhanger with the Swans in Round 20 last year which temporarily kept the Lions in the 2007 finals hunt.
