G’day Ash. It was hard work watching the boys against the Swans last week with their boring style of play. Do you enjoy playing in those suffocating sort of games or would you rather be somewhere like Essendon and Carlton were in a shootout? – Craig from Heidelberg, VicAsh: The hard, tough, close-in games can actually be enjoyable to play in, especially if you win. They also generally see that everybody out on the ground is accountable. In a shoot-out, if one team scores 23 goals and the other 21, it means that something is going to be wrong with your set-ups. It means some blokes aren’t doing their jobs properly, especially with the defensive duties that they have. So from a team perspective, I’d rather the tight, in-close game.Hi Ashley. I don’t know if you know, but WA is coming over to play Queensland in a State game in June. Who will you be cheering for? – Maureen from Cockburn, WA

Ash: I know the game is up in Townsville and I’ll be going for WA because my brother Toby will hopefully be playing for them. I didn’t get the chance to see the game last time WA came over at Carrara a few years back, but I did get a chance to catch up with Toby. So yeah, I’ll be cheering on Toby and the WA boys.Hey Ash. I took your advice and came and watched the twos the last couple of weeks. How can the same team be so average one week and so slick the next? – John from Arana Hills, QldAsh: There are always a lot of what you would call ‘variables’ when it comes to the reses. We have blokes coming up and going down from the seniors, and lots of different kids coming in, some of them very young. Even the coach changes around a bit. We honestly try to be as consistent as we can, but there’s lots of factors that come into it like I said.Hi Ash. I was wondering what your favourite Playstation game is? – from Jake of Middle Park, Qld

Ash: At the moment I’ve got a Sony Playstation 3 and I like getting online and playing shooting games. If I had to pick a favourite game, I’d say it would be Madden 2008, which is an NFL game, of which you know I’m a big fan. Quite a few of the other boys have got a Wii.Hey mate. I wanted to know what you ate before a game. Do you eat different for a day game and a night game? – Toby from Cairns, Qld

Ash: It is different preparing for a night game than a day game. I like to sleep in if we’re playing at night, and then get up and have a small breakfast. I make up for that with a big lunch, and then have a small meal at 3 or 4pm. I like to have a big breakfast when we’re playing in the day. You have to be at the ground two hours before we start, so there’s not much time for anything else.
