Resumes don’t come much more stacked than Bond University’s Lucinda Pullar who can now add AFLW player to her list of achievements.
The former professional soccer player and fourth year medical student was taken by the Lions at Pick No.58 in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft.
Regularly named among the Sharkettes’ best during the 2021 QAFLW season, it might surprise some to learn that the cross-code star has just three years of AFL experience under her belt.
The former Brisbane Roar midfielder gave soccer away in 2019 to focus on her studies at Bond University.
However, after finding AFL through friends at University, Pullar quickly discovered a natural talent for the game that has led her back to life as an elite athlete.
AFLW Head Coach Craig Starcevich is looking forward to seeing the cross-code star thrive in the AFLW contest.
“Lulu has come from an elite soccer background but since taking up footy a few years ago has always stood out as the athletic running defender,” Starcevich said.
“This season she added contested marking to her skillset to become a more complete defender. However, given her running ability, we think she could be equally effective as a winger or half forward.
“Aside from her on-field ability, she has the personality and character which will fit perfectly within our group.”
