A tall athletic versatile player, Daniel McStay was recruited from the Easter Rangers by the Brisbane Lions in the 2013 draft at pick number no. 25 , making his debut in Round 15 of the following year. McStay enjoyed one of his most consistent years to date in 2019, playing all 24 games. Often swung between the forward and backline, he established establishing himself as a forward, kicking 21 goals and doing the one percenters.
