Following the merger agreement in 1996, the Brisbane Lions' Board - in consultation with a number of key stakeholders from Fitzroy and the Brisbane Bears - formed an official 'Historical Society' which would be responsible for the safe-keeping, repairing and maintenance of the Club's memorabilia.
The Fitzroy-Brisbane Lions Historical Society was also designed to continually recognise and acknowledge the rich histories and records from Fitzroy, the Bears, and the Brisbane Lions.
Over the years, the Historical Society has sourced and collected countless items of memorabilia, and maintained those already in the Club's possession.
In November 2011, the Historical Society proudly opened a Museum housed within the Arthur Wilson Room at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, which has received rave reviews from all who have toured the facility.
A number of historic items and memorabilia is also now on display at Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield.
