The Brisbane Lions VFL side are off the perfect start holding off Collingwood by 2-points at Brighton Homes Arena on Good Friday.

In a game full of momentum swings, it was the Lions who shot out to the early lead thanks to Kai Lohmann and Logan Morris.

Lohmann booted four goals for the match and stood tall in the last quarter finishing with 16 touches, six marks and eight tackles in an all-around performance.

Six goals to two in the first quarter ensured the Lions held a 27-point advantage at the opening break.

The Lions midfield was on top early through J. J. Liston Medallist, Jarryd Lyons and rookie Bruce Reville as Harry Sharp played an important role on the wing.

Lyons finished with 32 touches and eight clearances while Sharp patrolled the wing well with 18 disposals and nine marks.

Following Morris’ third to kickstart the second term and Kyle Dunkley’s first, it was all Collingwood.

The Pies booted the next four goals to cut the margin to one straight kick at the main break.

Draftee, Morris, was the pick for Brisbane at the halfway mark and would finish with 3 goals and 9 marks.

In a complete swap of the quarter previous, it was Collingwood who opened the scoring but the Lions answered with momentum of their own.

Dunkley booted his second and third majors, while Lohmann bobbed up for his second after a nice overhead mark.

The ball pinged from end to end with both defences under immense pressure during each side’s run of momentum.

Darragh Joyce and Jaxon Prior for the Lions took seven and six marks each to provide good aerial presence.

The fourth quarter presented a challenge with Collingwood running to the scoring end with 23 of a total 32 goals coming at the scoreboard end of the ground.

Lohmann kicked his third to open the last term but it was the Pies who dominated five goals in a row to cut the deficit to just two points.

Majors to Jack Manly, Lohmann’s fourth and a clutch goal from the boundary to Liam Hude put the finishing touches on a tense win.
