The Brisbane Lions have made six changes to their side, including the inclusion of one debutant, ahead of Saturday’s clash with Carlton at the Gabba.
Zac O’Brien (Pick No.23 in the 2013 AFL Rookie Draft) has been named to make his AFL debut after being upgraded to the Senior list this afternoon.
The 23 year-old has been elevated in place of Patrick Wearden who has been placed on the long-term injury list.
Recruited from the Essendon Bombers VFL side, O’Brien’s elevation comes after a string of consistent performances in the Lions NEAFL side, including 26 possessions and 8 clearances in the Reserves last outing.
O’Brien will become the Lions seventh debutant this year, joining Nick Robertson, Darcy Gardiner, Tom Cutler, James Aish, Lewis Taylor and Michael Close.
The Lions will also welcome a wealth of experience back into the side with Vice-Captain Tom Rockliff, Sam Mayes, Joel Patfull, Ryan Harwood and Matt Maguire all being named for Saturday’s match.
Andrew Raines, Jordan Lisle, Ryan Lester, Michael Close, Nick Robertson and Tom Cutler have all been omitted from the side.
The Lions take on Carlton at the Gabba, Saturday afternoon at 4.40pm.
