An experienced Geelong outfit proved too much for the Lions on Saturday night at the Gabba, with Backline Coach Murray Davis saying missed opportunities and unforced errors proved costly.
“It was a combination of things - firstly, us not taking our opportunities in the first quarter,” Davis said.

Geelong’s attacking stars were in great form on Saturday night, and Davis said stopping the points wasn’t just a case of putting more men behind the ball.
“A lot of it is just applying pressure to the ball and the source of the ball. That’s what we weren’t able to do on the weekend,” Davis said.
“One way to do it is just put extra numbers back, but ideally we want to apply pressure to the opposition and win the ball back there.”

“That’s one of his [Hipwood] strengths is that he is quite versatile. We should look at all those options,” Davis said.
“We know Harris Andrews can play forward as well so Eric Hipwood might be in the mix to move back at some point.”
