Currently in the midst of one of his best seasons to date, Stef Martin (@25.57) joined the Roar Deal podcast with Dom Fay and Michael Whiting this week.

At 31 years of age, Martin is averaging close to career-best numbers in disposals, hitouts, inside 50s and clearances.

His battle with Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy on Sunday was a highlight of what was an enthralling game.

"It was a pretty frenetic game [against Collingwood]. You don't always realise the quality of the game when you're amongst it," Martin said.

"[The close losses] are making us hungrier. It feels like we are very close.

"We had our review on Monday. We're working on our pressure constantly, forcing errors from our opponents. It's pretty exciting to try and fix them this week and be better.

"Fagan is always committed to continual growth and improvement. After a good performance like on the weekend, he reminds us that we are on track."

Martin's exceptional form at the moment, at an age when ruckman are normally slowing down, has him positioned to be a key member of the Lions' team for years to come.

"I would like to think I've got a few years left in me, and hopefully that can coincide with some success," he said.

"Life's pretty damn good as a football player in a losing team. I can't imagine what it would be like in a winning team.

"And it [winning] would probably mean more, because of those 11 years so far of losing."

Martin also discussed his take on teams playing one or two ruckman, and what he gets up to in his time away from the football field.

The Lions' Hyundai Facilitator, Kylie Osbourne, stops by (@57.57) to chat about her role at the Club and the services she can offer Lions fans and members looking for a new car.
