Brisbane Lions Captain Dayne Beams has been sidelined with a quad injury.
Beams suffered the injury during Saturday’s loss to Port Adelaide, with scans this week revealing damage to his right quad.
The 27-year-old is expected to miss the next two weeks, with the injury to be reassessed at that point in time.
Beams has been one of his team's best across the opening rounds of the season after returning from knee problems that sidelined him for nearly all of 2016.
Brisbane Lions General Manager of Football David Noble: "Dayne has been outstanding in the opening six rounds and this setback is frustrating for him.
“Dayne is a resilient person who has worked hard over the past year to get back to playing consistent footy and we’re confident he’ll handle his rehab with the same professionalism and dedication.
"As captain, he's worked extremely well with the leadership group to set standards and lead by example, and he will continue to drive that as he recovers from injury."
Vice Captain Tom Rockliff will take on the on-field captaincy role until Beams returns to action.
