A 24-strong Brisbane Lions AFLW squad will head down to Victoria tomorrow to face St Kilda in a practice match ahead of the start of AFLW Season 7 in two weeks.
Reigning W medallist, Emily Bates headlines the squad bound for RSEA Park, alongside 2021 All-Australian Nat Grider and Captain Bre Koenen.
Draftees Ella Smith and Dee Heslop will make the trip down to Melbourne for their first official hit out in the maroon, blue and gold.
While Lions Academy product Lily Postlethwaite will get her first chance to pull on the guernsey since sustaining an ACL injury in Round 4, 2021.
The Maroochydore Roos product returned to competitive football via the QAFLW earlier this year where she asserted herself as a prolific and impactful midfielder.
Shannon Campbell will miss the clash as she recovers from a minor shoulder injury, while Orla O’Dwyer will remain in Brisbane as she continues her return from shoulder surgery.
The practice match is open to the public and free of charge with Lions’ fans encouraged to get along to the game and support the team in their first public outing of Season 7.
