Veteran defender Kate Lutkins will be available for selection in this weekend’s Round 6 clash against Essendon after recovering from an ACL injury sustained in Round 1, Season Six.
Surrounded by a multidisciplinary team throughout the rehabilitation process, including her surgeon, Brisbane Lions High Performance staff, physios and doctors, Lutkins has now passed all relevant assessments to become available for selection in Head Coach Craig Starcevich’s Best 21 this weekend.
The 2021 Premiership defender returned to full training two months ago and participated in intraclub and interclub practice matches as part of her road back to full fitness.
“It’s been an extraordinary recovery from Kate and a testament to her diligence and professionalism throughout the rehab process,” said Matthew Green, Brisbane Lions High Performance Manager.
“Being in the late stages of her career and Kate’s desire to play every perceivable game possible, we’re pleased to see Kate return to full fitness at this stage of the season.”
