The Brisbane Lions have confirmed Vice-Captain Hugh McCluggage won’t play in Friday night’s clash with Sydney at The Gabba due to concussion protocols. In some good news, the midfielder has been cleared of any neck injuries.
McCluggage, who suffered the concussion in the final quarter of Saturday’s match against Hawthorn, was ‘in good spirits’ while participating in light activities at Tuesday’s training session.
The 25-year-old will be further assessed though is expected to miss just one game, seeing him return to travel to Melbourne to take on the Saints next Friday night for Round 15.
The Club is hopeful of young forward Shadeau Brain will be available for VFL selection this weekend after missing the last month with a shoulder injury.
Emerging defender Carter Michael remains two to three weeks away with a quad injury.
While midfielder Rhys Mathieson is down to an expected four weeks on the sidelines with his hamstring injury.
