In the eyes of all Lions fans, Jack Redden is already considered a key part of the Club’s exciting future.

He finished fifth in last year’s Club Champion award, earned a 2010 Rising Star nomination and has played 36 consecutive matches since making his senior debut back in Round 15 of 2009.

Now the wider football community are beginning to recognise the silky-skilled 20 year-old as one of the legitimate young stars of the competition.

With the entire football world watching last Thursday night, Redden starred with 27 disposals, a game-high 12 tackles and two goals in the team’s narrow loss against the Saints.

Those who were previously unaware of his obvious talents soon stood up to take notice.

His efforts were also translated in the AFL Dream Team competition, with the young South Australian racking up 138 points to take his season total to 451 over four games at an average of almost 113 per game.

Redden now not only leads all Lions players in total Dream Team points, but has also moved into 10th place overall in the AFL for individual point averages.

He is among elite company inside the top ten with Dane Swan (Collingwood), Scott Pendlebury (Collingwood), Matthew Boyd (Western Bulldogs), Sam Mitchell (Hawthorn), Andrew Embley (West Coast), Dean Cox (West Coast), Jobe Watson (Essendon), Scott Thompson (Adelaide) and David Mundy (Fremantle) filling the other nine positions.

Tom Rockliff is the second best Lions scorer with 425 points (17th overall), while Jed Adcock is also among the leading Dream Team point accumulators with 407 points (26th overall).

In terms of the actual Lions players trying their hand in the Dream Team competition, Daniel Rich maintains a slight edge over the nine other participating player teams, although Joel Patfull is making a charge.

‘Richy’s Rockets’ scored more than 2,000 points this week to move up 46 places into 170th position overall in the Lions’ League, while ‘Patfull’s Posse’ had a huge week, moving up 76 spots into 181st. Patfull is now just 40 points from dethroning Rich for the first time in 2011.

Meanwhile, the ‘Spaceballs’ side - coached by Adam - has reclaimed the overall lead in the Lions’ Dream Team League, but remains just 17 points ahead of the fast-moving ‘bradpitt FC’.

Congratulations also to ‘Jed’s Army’ - coached by Mathew - whose Round 5 score of 2,291 was the highest among all registered teams in the Lions’ group.
