A selection of members from the Hyundai Brisbane Lions Academy will get to experience playing on the hallowed MCG turf on Grand Final day this Saturday, as part of a NAB All Stars match.
The match, which will be played as a curtain-raiser to the AFL premiership decider between Hawthorn and the Sydney Swans, will showcase some of the country’s best young talent with the NAB AFL Academy (U17 side) set to face an Allies team made up from the best prospects from the northern states.
Five Hyundai Lions Academy players – Harris Andrews, Liam Dawson, Matthew Uebergang, Matthew Hammelmann, and Nick Jackson – will represent the Allies, while another, Ben Keays, will be in the opposition camp as part of the Australian team.
Andrews, Dawson, Uebergang, and Hammelmann, in particular, will attend next week’s AFL Draft Combine at Etihad Stadium, and are among the eight Academy members that the Club has already lodged as potential bid selections at November’s 2014 NAB AFL National Draft.
Keays, meanwhile, is under-age so won’t be eligible until next year’s Draft.
The NAB All Stars match will be streamed live on afl.com.au from 10am on Saturday.
